:: MY PERSONAL NEWS ::
Lots has happened since my last update... seems
like years ago, and actually, it's been about a year. In that time
I've lost nearly 250 lbs., my family and I moved from Northern California
cross-country to Southwest Maine (yikes!) and we are living with
Eric's aunt and uncle at their bed and breakfast in the sleepy town
of Lyman. Both Eric and I have obtained jobs - Eric is working as
a welder, and I have disrupted my 15-years as a disabled self-employed
web developer to become a Thermo Coatings Operator I, which is a
fancy name for for a machinist (making nearly as much as Eric!).
Yeah, the changes are all drastic ones... including the fact that
my Dad passed away from a 40+ year battle with skin cancer, and
the fact that I blew off my sworn statement to never (EVER!) fly
in order to go back to California twice during that. Anyway, I'm
back, and hopefully this site will be more up-to-date...

Release Date: April 27, 2007
Revolution Studios
Directed by Lee Tamahori (XXX: State of the Union)
Actors: Nicholas Cage, Jessica Biel
---
Why is this movie listed here?:
Nick Cage isn't enough to get listed on BWA, but the plot of a magician
who can see into the future? Yeah, that peaks the interest a bit...

SPIDER-MAN 3
R elease Date: May 4, 2007
Columbia Pictures
Directed by: Sam Raimi
Actors: Toby Maguire, Kirstin Dunst
---
Why is this movie listed here?:
Um, that is a no-brainer. BWA isn't all about WOMEN in comics...
but more about the beauty of comics and comic art. Could the Web
Slinger be any less BWA? I think not! This is supposed to be the
best of this great franchise... the trailers alone get 4 of 6 BWA
Attitude Points.

Why is this movie listed here?:
Looks like a fun family movie. We haven't seen it yet. I think
the last movie I saw in the theater was Eragon... oops! Did I type
that?

WHAT I'M READING:
---
HIS DARK MATERIALS - BOOKS 1, 2 & 3
Author: Philip Pullman
Catagory: Young Adult Sci-Fi/Fantasy
This is a GREAT series of books! The main character
is in no way typical - Lyra, and her world is a parallel one to
our own. The characters are extremely well-fleshed out, and you
either love them or hate them. This isn't a newer series, but with
the newer focus on Young Adult Fiction (Thank You, Harry Potter!),
it is getting the attention it deserves.

THE TWELVE KINGDOMS
While looking for anime on Blockbuster,
I came across this series and decided to rent the first three disks.
It looks good so far, but the main character is definitely NOT BWA
material... too much whining. BWA's don't whine!

LOST
When: Wednesday nights at 10 p.m. (PST)
Where: ABC
Why is this show listed here?:
I've been watching this for the full run and can't get enough. I
need my weekly LOST fix. The plot has more twists than a snake with
chiropractic issues.

DRIVE
When: Monday nights at 9 p.m.
Where: FOX
Why is this show listed here?:
Well, I suppose you could say that, if you like LOST, you'll find
a common thread here. A bit formulaic if you ask me, but hey...
it stars Nathan Fillion (Serenity, Firefly), and that is good enough
for me. For now.

HEROES
When: Monday nights at 10 p.m.
Where: NBC
Why is this show listed here?:
Just like the new Spider-Man movie - duh? Or, should it be "DOH!"
If you haven't tuned into this series yet, get with the program!
It is written and directed like a comic book, and one of the main
characters paints comic-style art, and puts out a comic book. The
twist? He paints the future. All of the main characters have genetic
mutations that give them unusual and sometimes super powers, or
abilities like that.
